Frequently Asked Questions
What is ExploreABLE?
ExploreABLE is your guide to accessible nature adventures — real trails, real parks, real information, minus the guesswork. We tell you what the track's actually like before you get there, so you can get outside with confidence (and Delores can worry about something else for once).
Who are ExploreABLE's guides for?
Anyone who's ever rocked up to a "family-friendly walk" and found three flights of stairs. Wheelchair users, people with mobility challenges or chronic illness, sensory-sensitive adventurers, older walkers, parents wrangling prams, carers and support workers - if you want to know before you go, you're one of us.
What accessibility details do the guides actually include?
The stuff that matters: surface type, gradient, rest stops, accessible parking and toilets, distance, timing, and sensory notes like noise, crowds, and shade. We go looking for the hazards so you don't have to find them the hard way.
Do I need a membership to read the accessible trail guides?
Free membership gets you into the ExploreABLE community and our newsletter - good yarns, new trails, that sort of thing. To unlock the full library of accessible nature guides, you'll want a paid membership. Delores thinks you should just wing it. Delores is wrong.
How is ExploreABLE different from other hiking and trail websites?
Most trail sites are written by and for people who've never had to think about a step, a slope, or a lack of shade. We flip that. Accessibility isn't a footnote here - it's the whole guide.
How do you verify accessibility information for each location?
Every trail and park gets assessed against the same accessibility checklist before it goes near our site. No guessing, no recycled council blurb - just details we'd trust ourselves.
Can I suggest a trail or nature spot for ExploreABLE to review?
Absolutely - that's half the fun. Flick us your suggestion through the contact form and we'll add it to the list. Delores will pretend not to be excited.
So, who is Delores?
Delores is the voice in the back of our heads telling us to slow down, be careful, maybe not launch that new feature yet. We love her. We ignore her constantly
